ATHENS, Ga. – The Classic Center is proud to host the Peach State Cats professional indoor football team at Akins Ford Arena for the upcoming season, which will kick-off in late March 2019.

Founded in the fall of 2017 by Tim Freeman and coached by Mareno Philyaw, the Peach State Cats played their first season in the spring of 2018 as a travel team and are thrilled to play at Akins Ford Arena for their upcoming season.

“We are looking forward to calling The Classic Center our home,” said Cats owner Tim Freeman. “Athens has had a rich football history with the success of The University of Georgia, Cedar Shoals, and Clarke Central programs over the years. We are looking forward to serving the community.”

The Cats, who are members of the American Arena League, will play five home games at Akins Ford Arena between March and June. The official league schedule, including home games and opponents, will be out at the beginning of November.

The league’s All-Star game will air on ESPN 3 on Saturday, August 25.
