Old Dominion returning to Athens February 27 to perform live at Akins Ford Arena
ATHENS, Ga. – Oct. 11, 2018 – Following a string of sold out shows and chart-scorching success, acclaimed country band Old Dominion shares a brand new single and announces its 2019 headlining arena tour, both entitled “Make It Sweet.” One of the stops on the first leg of the tour is Athens, with the band returning to town on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 to perform live in concert at Akins Ford Arena at The Classic Center, joined by special guest Mitchell Tenpenny. The band’s last gig in Athens was in April 2017 at The Classic Center’s 440 Foundry Pavilion where it played to a sold-out crowd of over 2,500 attendees.
This fall has turned into something of a triumphant victory lap for Old Dominion. They recently put on a sold-out bucket list gig at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for their very special headline show: “An Evening With Friends.” The event raised a total of $60K for charity benefitting the Opry Trust Fund and the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. Their smash hit “Hotel Key” ascended to #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts, becoming their 6th #1 from Happy Endings. With multiple platinum and gold certifications, Old Dominion also notably eclipsed 1 billion on-demand streams, averaging nearly 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
