The Perfect 5-Day New York Itinerary

Day 1:

One of the best parts about a trip from Athens to New York is the directness of the travel. You can leave your home at a comfortable hour of the morning and still get to the big city with time to take in some sights that very day.

Leave your car in The Classic Center’s secure parking lot and then enjoy a quick shuttle ride to the airport. Upon arrival in New York City, sit back, relax, and let vacation-mode kick in as you are chauffeured to the grand 4-star Hilton Midtown Hotel.

After working up an appetite, it’s time to head to delicious Italian eatery La Pecora Bianca before settling in to be amazed by the big lights of Broadway with Tony Awards® nominated SIX, a play The Washington Post describes as “Exactly the kind of energizing, inspirational illumination this town aches for! The Broadway season got supercharged!”

Day 2:

After a good night’s rest, enjoy the hotel’s breakfast before setting off to tour the famed Fotografiska museum, featuring varied perspectives and thought-provoking photography.

Once you’ve explored the museum’s astounding six stories worth of exhibits, head to Craft New York. Awarded “Best New Restaurant” by the James Beard Foundation in 2002 and “Diners’ Choice” by OpenTable in 2022, this eatery is fine dining and fresh food at its best.

After lunch, take some time to personalize the trip by enjoying a free afternoon where you can see anything in the city you’d like outside of the trip’s theme. Shopping, Times Square, Central Park – the choice is yours!

Next up, dinner of course. Savor wine and food at Smith and Wollensky, which The New York Times deems “A steakhouse to end all arguments.”

Finish the evening with the magical and whimsical tale of The Little Prince on Broadway, based on the beloved book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Day 3:

You’ve covered a lot in so far, so enjoy a well-deserved leisurely morning (it is vacation after all) at your luxurious hotel before heading out to an early lunch at the world-renowned Chelsea Market, which is teeming with variety and is just as fun to walk through as it is to eat at.

Next up, pay your respects at the 9/11 Museum Workshop Tour. Founder Gary Marlon Suson says, “I promise you that our Museum - which breaks the mold of any conventional Museum - will leave you with a greater understanding of the strength of the human spirit when faced with adversity. You will live through our daily successes, our failures and our emotions that we grappled with each day. You will indeed have a much deeper understanding of September 11 than what you saw on the television. I believe your experience at our tiny Museum will stay with you long after you have left, just as my experience at the Anne Frank House has stayed with me to this day and just as my 7-months at Ground Zero are forever embedded in my memory.”

Decompress with another free afternoon before heading to feast at Il Gattopardo at the Rockefeller Townhouses. The perfect mix of simple elegance and modern taste, you will leave this southern Italian eatery with a full stomach and happy attitude.

Don’t let the comfort food make you too sleepy, though, because up next is a performance that is Tony Awards® nominated and The Washington Post calls, “A riveting adrenaline rush of a show” – MJ the Musical. Follow Michael Jackson’s riveting journey to stardom in this unique and electrifying show.

Day 4:

Feel free to sleep in after a late night at the theatre or sneak in a few sights before lunchtime at The Marshal, a farm-to-table eatery praised for its fresh cuisine and sustainable practices. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try New York pizza, this is it. Revel in the taste of stupendous wood-fired pizza with locally sourced wine.

If you love to watch this classic bohemian movie on repeat, then this afternoon’s Broadway excursion is for you. Delve into the romance, freedom, and extensive artistry of Moulin Rouge, winner of 10 Tony Awards®, including Best Musical!

After the curtains close, visit five-time James Beard Award-winning restaurant Union Square Café for fresh food and famed hospitality. This pioneering restaurant is a perfect encapsulation of everything to love about New York dining and the perfect last official stop on the food tour.

Day 5:

After an action-packed few days in the Big Apple, it’s time to head back to Athens to tell the tale. Fly home and enjoy a shuttle ride directly back to your car, the perfectly convenient ending to a perfect New York trip.
